CHILDREN, PREGNANT MUMS & CHIROPRACTIC

Children go through many developmental changes as they grow. The nervous system is the first to develop & it controls all the other systems. It is therefore very important to have the nervous system develop at its optimum. We can determine if there is a misalignment of the spine, which results in irritation & poor function of the nervous system.

The first and most traumatic misalignment to the spine can be the birthing process, which can put pressure on the baby’s spine, affecting the nervous system.

The pressure we apply in treatment is equivalent to applying pressure to one's eyeball.

The most common conditions we see in babies or children are :

  • Trouble turning the neck to one side resulting in flat or distorted skull shape
  • Excessive crying or irritability if there is a spinal trigger
  • Difficulty in rolling over that could have a spinal origin
  • Difficulty crawling or walking that could have a spinal origin
  • Assist with breastfeeding issues and uncontrolled crying, if the cause is related to a baby’s spine being misaligned
  • Check if development is appropriate with age & milestones

Chiropractic care can be an important part of your children's health care.

Pregnancy

Many problems suffered during pregnancy may be directly related to the health of your spine. These include low back pain, headaches, sciatica, pelvic pain, pelvic instability, which should not necessarily be considered ‘a natural part’ of pregnancy even though many women suffer from these as early as the first trimester.

Having an optimally working nervous system, especially when you’re pregnant, creates an ideal environment for your baby to realize his or her fullest potential.

After Birth

Even natural births have an enormous stress on the bodies and spines of both mother & child. Many newborns & mothers experience breastfeeding problems and settling issues because the baby has a subluxation and is unable to comfortably turn its head to one side. We use special approaches to make our adjustments safe and comfortable for you and your child. The pressure used when adjusting a new born is what you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato.
